Monitoring with Prometheus
Duration: 1 day
Prometheus is an Open Source monitoring solution for cloud native environments that implements advanced concepts like service discovery and federation.
It uses a time series database featuring a powerful query language with integrated mathematical functions. It integrates with modern graphing solutions like Grafana, and both alerts and graphs can use the same queries. Alerts can be sent both via traditional channels such as email, or integrated with chat systems such as Slack. Prometheus was originally developed by SoundCloud and is now under the umbrella of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, which is a sub-project of the Linux Foundation.
In this workshop, participants will learn the basic concepts of Prometheus, it’s architecture, how it can be deployed and how common container environments can be integrated with it. Participants will also learn how to build dashboards and set up alerts.
